Love these new splay 101 (2026). Definitely an upgrade compared to the originals. Feels somewhat softer underfoot, definitely more comfortable and stylish than its previous version. Just wish Splay made a size 12.5. So if you usually order size 12.5 in other barefoot shoes, I recommend sizing up the way I did to a 13.

Very stylish and versatile. There is a difference in quality and shape comparesd original splay 101. The one on the left is the new updated splay 101 (2026) the one on the right are my old 101s. The new one is less boxy and softer underfoot. The insole is definitely of higher quality. The new model is definitely all around improved. My only complaint is I wear a size 12.5 and splay stops making half sizes at 12. So I order a size 13.

I have worn these shoes a few times now and it feels like they are still breaking in. I have skinny and sensitive ankles and the shoe goes a little wide and a little high for me back there but I presume once they soften a bit more they'll be ok. In general they are a little stiffer than I'm used to in a barefoot shoe but not so much that I wouldn't recommend them. And they are pretty cute!

I was visiting family in the US when I realized my long-loved barefoot sneakers had a hole in them. So I looked around for reasonably priced but reliable sneakers and, upon a friend's rec, I ordered a pair of Splays. But oh no, I moved too fast and ordered the wrong size! The team replied to my panicked email within 24 hours and were able to update my order. Incredible! But oh no, those were the wrong size (both the size guide and AI measurement tool suggested a 10.5, but a 10 (my most typical size) was correct, just for reference). So I placed another order, but wasn't sure if it would arrive in time before I left the country again. I emailed them again asking if there was anything they could do. There wasn't, but they replied very fast again, and lo and behold my shoes arrived in 2 days (helps that I was staying quite near their base in Utah). Amazing!
The shoes themselves look and feel great. I haven't purchased a new pair of barefoot sneakers in a while and I'm so happy with these so far. We'll have to see about longevity, but I'm really stoked. Splay has earned themselves a fan!

Long time Splay purchaser, from their kids lines to various different adult models…. this shoe is where it’s at. It is genuinely comfortable and stylish. I hope this specific model sticks around. It’s a winner!
