I was very excited to get these shoes as I had the old version from Splay. As many have said, they run big. At first I ordered the size suggested by the AI tool, which was 8.5 W. In the end 7.5 W is the correct size for me. I was also surprised that the majority of the shoe is suede, although they are described as "black canvas." The previous iteration was all canvas. I understand suede will be more durable, but I liked canvas for summer as it is cooler, lighter, and less fussy if my shoes get wet. Overall I like them, but I wish they were not so hot.

At ***** skating can be hard on you. But it’s so fun why would you want to stop! I came across Splays and rely I at my age have been wanting to skate all slip ons. To just slip into them not hurting my back before I skate. And I saw how high the back heel part was and that was what I had been looking for. But when I bought them oh ya that high back kept them on rely good. But I didn’t rely have any idea of what the shape and bare foot shoe was or was supposed to do. I read emailed Splay researched and then skated them. And they do what they say they do. I keep saying it but when the front of your foot in a shoe is free to spread open wide like you would when you walk barefoot the way God made our feet these shoes fit like none I have tried. Having the whole front of your foot open wide lets you not only feel like your foot and toes are gripping the board almost like your bare foot but my feet used to crackle just walking around. And I started to feel that less and less and now I barly feel or here that crackle. And I think it’s because the wide front of our feet are supposed to be open wide not closed off even just that little pressure on the sides of the front of your foot when a shoe constricts both sides of your foot even a bit I feel like that lessons our foots natural way we walk. The nicest barefoots I've owned and worn so far. I've had vivo's and merrell, although they're all pretty similar - style wise they don't quite hit as good as these. Took a while to get to the UK, but they made it. We need a UK distributor stat!!

I did at least one review for Splay shoes this color way. Maybe that was for shop. And I get to ranting how good they are i can go on and on. But I will say as I have already just got my 3rd pair yesterday that these shoes Rock! They do what the company says they do. The shape lets the front of your foot spread wide open your toes are free not squished and I have skated many skate shoe brands and ther are many good ones. These however are not only a very different feel they for me are what comes rare on skateboarding a step of advancement to help skaters. I was ther back when our noses on skateboards wer maybe 1-3 inches long. Around 1984 and when the longer noses came out that was a big advancement in skating. It’s pretty rare when that happens now days cas so much has been tried and some good advancements have came. It’s just like what can we do now? And in my opinion Splay has done it. These shoes feel very different again the freedom the front of your foot feels is rad they come OOTB=Out Of The Box skatable. Break in not necessary. And I rely didn’t know about the tech in these I am just an older beat up skateboarder and I have wanted to skate slip ons for a while and many feel good but the can flop off your feet especially for flip tricks. When I saw Splays high back heel area I thought ohhh yeah I think that will help them not fall off. I rely didn’t think much about the ‘bare foot’ tech so I went to see ther site researched even emailed the team at Splay asked…
