I've been on a mission to change my shoes/strengthen my feet after getting plantar fasciitis and being in pain when walking. After the initial treatment of built up insoles and exercises to strengthen feet, I thought there must be a better way to actually wear shoes that let you use your foot muscles while walking.
these trainers really let your toes splay! after all its in the name, and now I find it crazy that most branded shoes just squish that little toe inwards making it nearly non functional! But yes, what I was looking for was a barefoot type shoe that still looked good-i don't like a lot of the barefoot designs, I think they're fairly ugly, but I love the sort of retro style here. Also I wanted a bit of cushion, as I'm a bit older and that means the fat pads on the soles of my feet have dissipated so cushion is required or its like walking straight on bone. so yeah, basically I'm happy with this shoe, it feels great underfoot especially feeling like I'm using all my muscles on uneven ground. I love how they look, the only negative is the soles are a bit slippy on some surfaces, so if you're doing some trail running, they probably wouldn't feel trustworthy underfoot. Saying that I'm definitely buying a second pair.
