Splay 101 - Pink Pearl

These are the comfiest nicest shoes ever. I think in real life the quality is great and they look better than the do online. I’m just planning which colourway to buy next. I’m in the UK- shipping was pretty quick about a week? Sizing took a little figuring out but I followed the guidance rather than just my usual size. Super happy. 10/10 will buy again.

I wanted to try a new brand and expand my casual footwear to something with a little bit more width and Splay seemed like a decent brand with a good looking product. I enjoyed wearing them; nothing too hard, just going to work and walking around town. It just started raining where I live and a day or so ago my socks got wet after walking inside. The uppers actually repel water quite well for a leather/suede material. However after looking a the bottom of the shoe the foxing tape and outsole completely separated. It wasn’t a tear, the parts of the outsole just separated. Very poor construction, I’ve had Vans last WAY longer and they aren’t constructed that well either. Super disappointing.

Kudos to the boys at Sons of Sever because it was their review that convinced me to try Splay. Out of all the brands they’ve covered, I felt that Splay was the best choice for me and my lifestyle. The 101 felt great right out of the box. I wore them to run errands during the day and I can’t be any more pleased. The materials seem durable and I will look forward to getting other models from the brand.
